It has been a pretty crazy few days, getting things set up for Saturday. It will all work out best in the long run though. Having a meet at home before the invite has pushed plans for a course reroute forward. We fully intend to be using the new layout for Saturday's meet. The character and atmosphere of the course is 100% in tact, but the improvements in our layout address a whole host of concerns about the original one. A new map will be coming shortly, and will be available the day of the meet. I will be sticking around after practice on Friday to do some last minute clean up things, if anyone wants to come out. We will mainly be cutting back some branches and thorns that are hanging out into the course, and trimming up some low hanging branches that pose a bit of a hazard to the runners in some areas. We will also be setting some new flag posts, to mark the new layout. Ron Meyer, Bart Abel, and Jim Hornick have already volunteered to come out and help. If anyone else feels like getting a little dirty, come on out. Give me a call or send me a text at 812-340-2222. The Edgewood Primary School playdate is also tomorrow evening, from 6-8. I am going to be manning a table there, to advertise our course and our Mini Marathon that is our fundraiser for the year. We have added a kids fun run to the schedule for the event, and we are hoping to get some people signed up at the playdate. For the meet on Saturday, kids should be at the shelter house no later than 7:45. Races start at 9:00 with the girls first, then the boys. The team will need time to set up the camp and get settled in, to start focusing on their first meet. |
