A few notes about this Saturday's meet at BNL: 1-We will meet at 6:30 on Saturday morning, to load and leave by 6:45. Directions are on our Team Documents page. Please be sure all gear is packed and ready to go the night before. All team members should be wearing their uniforms (varisty boys in the new ones, with red lettering), their team shirts, and their warmups. It will probably be a bit chilly at the start of the day, so it might be time to break out the hats and gloves as well. 2-Please make sure our kids are getting enough sleep. We have started to peel back some of the mileage and have begun our taper period. It is crucial that they get the sleep to help their bodies regenerate during this period, so they can feel the effects of more fresh legs on race day. 3-This Saturday is a varsity and JV split race. For the boys, the varsity team will be wearing the new uniforms (the ones with the red print). My job just got a lot tougher, as we now have more than seven guys who are jostling for positions on the varsity roster. Please encourage the healthy competition that makes our team better, and be supportive of the decisions that are made with regard to lineups. While I will be looking primarily at race times, I also have to take into account workouts throughout the week and the health of our runners to put the seven out there who give the team the best chances on race day. 4-This course is where we run for Sectionals and (hopefully) Regionals. This will be a good test to see where we stand as a team heading into the final stretch of our season. It should be a fun meet, and one I hope continues to see us build in a positive direction. The support that you have all provided throughout the season has been awesome, and it has truly contributed to our successes thus far. Our kids are fortunate to have such a supportive group making the trips to see them in their element. |
